New concert programme 2025
Under the guiding themes of fear and hope, the SSWO
through an evening full of great emotions that seem more relevant than ever in the current situation.
The programme opens with the commissioned work by Franco Cesarini, the overture ‘Winds of Hope’, a hopeful homage to inner strength and the courage to bring about change. This is followed by the visually stunning suite from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ by John Williams, which brings the worlds of Star Wars to life in martial battle scenes and colossal soundscapes. With Thomas Trachsel's Symphony No. 2, the concert evening culminates in a complex work dominated by dark images that inspires hope for a transformation for the good.
New Orchestra manager
Karin Wäfler
‘The opportunity to be part of the Swiss Symphonic Wind Orchestra is a unique chance for me to combine my passion for music and my professional skills in a creative, professional environment. As an orchestra manager, it is a particular pleasure for me to work in an ensemble that is characterised by high artistic standards and excellent collaboration.
The Swiss Symphonic Wind Orchestra stands for musical excellence, innovation and a deep understanding of the importance of symphonic wind music - values that I personally share and that motivate me to focus my energy on this work.’
Review tour 2024
The Swiss Symphonic Wind Orchestra completed its 2024 concerts with the concert programme ‘Home’ and the three concerts in the Parktheater Grenchen, the Casino Frauenfeld and the Neumünster Church in Zurich.
Many thanks to everyone who supported the SSWO and made the home tour possible. First and in particular the musicians for their commitment and passionate performances.
