WEST SIDE STORIES

Since its founding in 2021, the Swiss Symphonic Wind Orchestra has thrilled its audience with the five concert programs to date: "Divertimento" (2021), "Transformationen" (2022), "Präludium" (2023), "Home" (2024), and "Von Angst und Hoffnung" (2025). With "Heavy" by Sandra Stadler, the new version of "Rhapsody in Blue" for marimba and wind orchestra by Vienna Art Orchestra leader Mathias Rüegg, "Information Overload" by composer Stephan Hodel, Luzia Von Wyl's "Fifth Avenue," and Franco Cesarini's "Winds of Hope," five new compositions commissioned by the SSWO – all by Swiss composers – have been well received.

Due to the consistently positive feedback from visitors, musicians, and the press, the orchestra is planning its sixth concert tour under the program title "West Side Stories" in September 2026, with concerts in Urdorf, Widnau, and Zurich-Oerlikon.
